The Missouri Association of Sheltered Workshop Managers (MASWM) Board of Directors announced the leadership transition at the Association’s Annual Conference in Jefferson City. Outgoing President Tim Poepsel, CEO of EMPAC Group inc. with locations in Sullivan and Washington, stepped down after two years of service, passing the gavel to Incoming President Kimbal Mothershead, Director of Vocational Services, Inc. of Liberty/North Kansas City.
MASWM comprises 86 shops in Missouri that support Missourians with disabilities by providing options that match their abilities, needs, and goals. These shops serve individuals who may not yet succeed in traditional workplaces and have the most significant disabilities.
Under Tim Poepsel’s leadership, the association achieved significant milestones, including a better understanding of 14c and support for advocacy for the rights of people with disabilities to make choices. His dedication to the association’s mission has strengthened its position and reinforced MASWM’s Missouri Model’s standing as an industry leader.
Incoming President Kimbal Mothershead brings 32 years of experience championing Extended Employment Sheltered Workshops, beginning with Specialty Industries in St. Joseph and the past 8 years at Vocational Services, Inc. in Liberty/North Kansas City. Mr. Mothershead serves on the MASWM board of directors and has served on several association planning committees. Mr. Mothershead will continue to demonstrate why supporting the Missouri Model and Extended Employment is necessary as a choice for people with disabilities.
